Margaret "Peggy" Flanagan

"Every book she placed in someone's hands was a small act of faith."
# Margaret "Peggy" Flanagan For thirty-five years, Peggy Flanagan was the kind of librarian Boston Public Library could not afford to lose and could never quite replace. She knew which shelf held what before the catalog did, remembered the names of children who had come through as adults, and pressed just the right book into just the right hands with the quiet certainty of someone who had thought very carefully about both. She retired in 2009, loved her grandchildren extravagantly, and read until the very end.
